At the Department of Sociology, School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Edinburgh, the delegation held discussions with John Devaney, Dean of the School of Social and Political Sciences; Hugo Gorringe, Head of the Department of Sociology; Angélica Thumala, Senior Lecturer; and Peaks Krafft, Lecturer.
Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as art empowering rural revitalization, contemporary inheritance of traditional art, sociological research in art, cross-cultural exchange in art, and joint postgraduate training. Both sides agreed that Nanjing, where Southeast University is located, is a major center of literature and art, while Edinburgh, where the University of Edinburgh is located, boasts a world-renowned international arts festival. Both universities have deep-rooted expertise in art research and can leverage the two cities to conduct broad cooperation in cultural studies and art dissemination.


Both sides focused on exchanging ideas on teaching and research cooperation models, reaching a positive consensus on inviting University of Edinburgh faculty members to conduct special lectures, participate in curriculum development, jointly teach courses, and conduct joint research projects. In the future, both sides will explore long-term cooperation mechanisms in areas such as cultural heritage revitalization, urban cultural research, and sociological research in art.
