The conference theme spans from antiquity to before the 15th century, highlighting how Chinese porcelain, connected to Eurasia through trade networks, played an irreplaceable role in early globalization. Even after the Age of Discovery in the 15th to 18th centuries, Chinese porcelain remained significant in world trade. However, for a long time, the Western-centric narrative of globalization has obscured the subjectivity and agency of Chinese civilization in this historical process. Porcelain was not merely a commodity, but a crucial medium for cross-civilizational exchange—it carried the flow of technology, knowledge, aesthetics, and lifestyles, playing a vital role in the formation of the early modern world. Re-examining the position of ancient China in world history from the global history of Chinese porcelain, and connecting it to the local experience of the Jingdezhen model today, is of great significance for promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. Professor Fang Lili, a specially appointed chief professor at Southeast University and a renowned anthropologist, has long studied the history of Chinese ceramics and has spent thirty years conducting in-depth fieldwork in Jingdezhen, precisely to address these historical questions. From a macro-level global perspective to a meso-level understanding of Chinese ceramic history, and then to the micro-level case study of the Jingdezhen folk kilns, Professor Fang systematically studied the local radiation within the globalization of ceramics, connecting global and local perspectives, and ancient research with contemporary cultural changes, thus forming a paradigm of anthropological research based on "living history." His latest masterpiece, *A Thousand-Year History of the Evolution of Jingdezhen Folk Kilns* (two volumes, selected for the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Publication and the 2023 National Publication Fund), is a concentrated embodiment of this paradigm. Around this core research, Professor Fang Lili has produced a series of supplementary and extended works:

◆ *Lighting Up the World with Kiln Fires: A Grand History of Chinese Ceramics* (selected for the 2024 National Social Science Fund Popular Science Reading Project) – tracing the global flow of Chinese ceramics from a macro perspective;

◆ *The Jingdezhen Model: Chinese Practice in Post-Agricultural Civilization* (published by The Commercial Press) – extending ancient research to the local experience of the Jingdezhen model today, bridging the past and present;

◆ The English translation of *Investigation into the History of Jingdezhen’s Folk Porcelains: Tradition and Changes* (officially published by the internationally renowned publisher Routledge in April 2026) – promoting related research to the international academic community and fostering academic dialogue between China and other countries.
