To effectively ensure the quality of graduate education, this code has been formulated following deliberation by the Graduate Degree Committee and approval by the University's Joint Party and Administrative Meeting. All supervisors are requested to strictly adhere to its provisions.

1. Comply with the "Code of Conduct for Faculty Members of the School of Arts";

2. Strengthen the development of academic ethics and professional conduct among graduate supervisors, enhance academic standards, strictly adhere to scholarly integrity, ensure a clean and upright environment within the supervisory team, improve supervisors' political awareness, professional ethics, and comprehensive professional competencies, and thereby comprehensively elevate the quality of graduate education at the college.

3. Actively and impartially fulfill all critical procedural responsibilities, including developing training programs, designing examination questions, grading papers, conducting interviews, organizing opening ceremonies, initiating research projects, performing mid-term evaluations, reviewing and revising graduate theses, supervising thesis defenses, and attending graduation ceremonies. Those who fail to attend any three or more of these mandatory events without valid justification within a year will have their supervisor qualification for student recruitment revoked for the following academic year.

4. Strictly control the quality management process for graduate student training and actively fulfill supervisory responsibilities. Supervisors must convene their assigned students for guidance sessions at least four times per month; failure to meet this requirement for two consecutive months will result in revocation of supervisor qualifications. For supervisors unable to perform duties for more than three months or up to six months due to reasons such as overseas travel or health issues, other supervisors shall be appointed to assume responsibilities, or the college shall arrange alternative supervision arrangements, with relevant measures implemented accordingly.

The appointment must be registered with the college. If a supervisor is unable to fulfill their duties for more than six months, they must submit an application one month in advance to the college to arrange a replacement and submit the relevant adjustment proposal to the Graduate School for approval and registration.

5. Active Publication of Academic Achievements: Doctoral supervisors shall publish at least one academic paper in a CSSCI-indexed journal annually, along with one paper in other journals; master's supervisors shall publish at least one paper in a CSSCI-indexed journal every two years, plus one paper in other journals. Publishing one academic monograph or two papers in Chinese core journals shall be counted as one CSSCI-indexed paper. Technical supervisors (MFA program instructors) may meet half of these requirements, provided they either guide students to win at least one third prize or higher in national competitions annually, or ensure annual participation in national art exhibitions. National competitions refer to events organized by associations under the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles or relevant national authorities; two provincial-level competitions count as equivalent to one national competition. Supervisors failing to meet these academic requirements will lose their eligibility to recruit students in the following year.

6. Supervisors who personally or guide students in publishing papers, academic works, or teaching materials that involve plagiarism will have their supervisory qualifications revoked.

7. Submission of master's and doctoral dissertations for review (including two stages: preliminary review by external experts and blind review by the university): If two dissertations fail at any stage, the supervisor's eligibility to recruit students in the following year will be revoked; if such failures occur twice consecutively within three years (or if three dissertations fail during a single submission), the supervisor's qualification will be revoked; random inspections conducted by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee or the Jiangsu Provincial Academic Degrees Committee have identified non-compliant master's and doctoral dissertations.If any issues are identified and confirmed, the supervisor's qualifications will be revoked.

8. For cases where admission quotas or supervisor qualifications are revoked, applicants shall not reapply within two years; those seeking to restore these qualifications after the two-year period must undergo re-evaluation by the Graduate School's Academic Degrees Sub committee and obtain approval from the Graduate School.

These guidelines apply to all levels of graduate supervisors within our institute. They were discussed by the Institute's Degree Committee and approved by the Joint Party and Administrative Meeting of the Institute in March 2020, taking effect upon issuance. The authority to interpret these guidelines rests with the Joint Party and Administrative Meeting of the Institute and the Degree Committee.
